What are Ðiscovery Miles?

Ðiscovery Miles is Discovery's shared-value rewards currency that you can earn for getting healthy, driving well and spending responsibly.

You can spend your Ðiscovery Miles at a range of in-store and online partners. You can also redeem them to get vouchers with Vitality Active Rewards, spend them on prepaid products and services, use them for travel, exchange them for cash, and more.

How do I earn Ðiscovery Miles?

You can earn Ðiscovery Miles in a number of ways, including:

1. Getting Ðiscovery Miles from HealthyLiving purchases and Vitality rewards.
2. Earning thousands of Ðiscovery Miles with Vitality Active Rewards.
3. Getting rewarded on fuel spend and Uber rides.
4. Exercising and driving responsibly.
5. Shopping with your Discovery Bank credit card.

Where can I spend Ðiscovery Miles?

You can spend your Ðiscovery Miles on just about anything, including:

1. Spending them on Vitality Active Rewards on the Discovery app.
2. Shopping with them online and in-store at select partners using the Discovery Bank app.
3. Spending them on travel by using them for flights, accommodation and package bookings.
4. Spending them on prepaid services and products, such as airtime, data bundles and electricity.
5. Monetising them by exchanging them for cash, which is paid straight into your Discovery Bank account.
6. Using them to pay any of your contacts who have a Ðiscovery Miles account with Discovery Bank.

What are Ðiscovery Miles worth?

You can redeem Ðiscovery Miles at a rate of 10 Ðiscovery Miles for R1.

Discovery Bank clients with Vitality Money can save up to 15% on qualifying purchases when you spend Ðiscovery Miles. Your up to 15% discount will be applied to the rand amount, and then converted to Ðiscovery Miles at the rate of 10 Ðiscovery Miles for R1.

For example, John has reached his 15% discount. He visits an online partner and wants to buy an item for R100. With his 15% discount, the item will only cost him R85, as long as he pays with his available Ðiscovery Miles (R100 at 15% off = R85 = 850 Ðiscovery Miles).

How does the Ðiscovery Miles up to 15% discount work?

Discovery Bank clients with Vitality Money can save up to 15% on qualifying purchases when you spend Ðiscovery Miles online and in-store through our retail partner network, in the Vitality Mall, and on prepaid products and services through the Discovery Bank app. Your up to 15% discount will be applied to the rand amount, and then converted to Ðiscovery Miles at a rate of 10 Ðiscovery Miles for R1.

For example, John has reached his 15% discount. He visits an online partner and wants to buy an item for R100. With his 15% discount, the item will only cost him R85 as long as he pays with his available Ðiscovery Miles (R100 at 15% off = R85 = 850 Ðiscovery Miles).

How is the 15% Ðiscovery Miles discount calculated?

Your up to 15% discount is based on having:

• Vitality Money: +5%
• Vitality Health: +5%
• Vitality Drive: +5%

What is Miles Ð-Day?

On the 15th of every month, for 24 hours only (from 00:00 to 23:59), Discovery Bank doubles the Ðiscovery Miles discount Discovery Bank clients get when spending their Ðiscovery Miles at our online and in-store retail partners.

Qualifying Discovery Bank primary accountholders with Vitality Money can already save between 5% and 15% when spending Ðiscovery Miles at our online and in-store retail partner network . On Miles Ð-Day, these clients automatically get double their usual spend discount and can save from 10% to up to 30% when spending Ðiscovery Miles.

Who qualifies for Miles Ð-Day?

Miles Ð-Day is available to qualifying Discovery Bank clients who:

• Live in South Africa and are 18 years or older.
• Are the primary accountholders with a Discovery Bank Transaction Account, Discovery Bank Card Account or Discovery Bank Suite.
• Have activated Vitality Money and have an active Vitality Money status.
• Have downloaded the latest version of the Discovery Bank app to access the discount.

If you have the previous Discovery Card that is now administered by Discovery Bank, you need to sign up for a new Discovery Bank credit card and activate Vitality Money to qualify for Miles Ð-Day.

How does the Miles Ð-Day double discount work?

If you're a qualifying Discovery Bank primary accountholder with Vitality Money, you already enjoy a discount from 5% to up to 15% off when spending your Ðiscovery Miles at the Ðiscovery Miles online and in-store retail partner network. You get 5% off for every Vitality programme (Vitality Money, Vitality Health and Vitality Drive) you've activated.

On Miles Ð-Day, you can double this discount and save from 10% to up to 30% when spending your Ðiscovery Miles at our online and in-store retail partners. The double discount will be automatically applied to the Ðiscovery Miles amount and will show next to the Rand amount when you're making payment. You will also receive a confirmation message in your Discovery Banking app under the notifications section. You need to make sure that you've downloaded the latest version of the Discovery Bank app to get the discount.

Where can I use my Miles Ð-Day double discount?

You can shop in-store or online at over 40 online and in-store Ðiscovery Miles retail partners (excluding all our travel partners on the Vitality Travel booking platform, and any of the Dream Destination benefits. This does not include using your Ðiscovery Miles to shop on Vitality Mall with Vitality Active Rewards or using your Ðiscovery Miles to purchase airtime, data, SMS bundles and prepaid water and electricity in the Discovery Bank app.

Why can't I spend my up to 30% discount in the Vitality Mall?

The Miles Ð-Day discount is only applicable to qualifying Discovery Bank clients with Vitality Money when spending Ðiscovery Miles in the Ðiscovery Miles online and in-store retail partner network.

The Miles Ð-Day double your discount promotion excludes using your Ðiscovery Miles to shop on Vitality Mall with Vitality Active Rewards.

In-store vouchers generated using the Discovery app are not eligible for any Ðiscovery Miles spend discount. If the Discovery app is used, the discount cannot be applied after the purchase has been completed.

The Miles Ð-Day promotion also excludes Ðiscovery Miles used to purchase airtime, data, SMS bundles and prepaid water and electricity in the Discovery Bank app.

How do I get my Miles Ð-Day double discount at Ðiscovery Miles online partners?

To get the up to 30% discount when you shop at our Ðiscovery Miles online retail partners, simply:

1. Complete your online shopping.
2. At checkout, select Ðiscovery Miles to pay for purchases.
3. Log in to the payment platform using your Discovery login details.
4. The up to 30% discount will be applied automatically to your purchase during checkout.

How do I get my Miles Ð-Day double discount at Ðiscovery Miles online partners?

To get the up to 30% discount when you shop at our Ðiscovery Miles in-store retail partners, simply:

1. Log in to your Discovery Bank app.
2. Scroll down and select the Ðiscovery Miles balance tile.
3. Tap Spend and select Pay In-store.
4. Enter the rand amount you'd like to spend and tap Generate voucher.
5. Show your voucher to the cashier to redeem it.

Remember, you need to make sure you've downloaded the latest version of the Discovery Bank app to access the discount.

How do I get my Miles Ð-Day double discount at Ðiscovery Miles online partners?

The Miles Ð-Day offer excludes travel through any of the Dream Destination benefits which include Contiki, Royal Caribbean Cruises and World Leisure Holidays and the Vitality Travel booking platform. This is because travel is excluded from the existing Ðiscovery Miles benefit where qualifying Discovery Bank clients with Vitality Money, can get up to 15% off when spending Ðiscovery Miles.

You can still enjoy great savings on flights. Qualifying Discovery Bank clients with Vitality Money get between 10% and 40% on domestic flights, while Vitality Health members save up to 35% on domestic flights. Qualifying clients with both Vitality Money and Vitality Health can therefore get a maximum flight saving of up to 75% .
