Vitality turns your everyday healthy choices into Vitality points, and those points add up to status levels throughout the year. Diamond sits at the top of that scale, and reaching it is more achievable than you might think. Your annual Vitality Health Check, HealthyFood shopping, weekly exercise and preventive screenings each contribute to your total.
Vitality Health Check alone can earn a substantial share of the 50,000 points you need for Diamond as one adult. Whether you track your morning run or line up for parkrun, every point moves you closer to the highest status level.
Diamond sits at the top of a status scale that starts on Blue each year. For a family, the target grows with each adult dependant, so you can build towards Diamond together. The habits you already practise, from weekly exercise to annual health screenings, each contribute to the total you need.
Key takeaways
Diamond is the top status: You reach it by earning 50,000 Vitality points as one adult, across a year of tracked physical activity, health assessments, healthy grocery shopping, and additional screenings.
The Vitality Health Check leads the way: One Vitality Health Check can earn up to 22,500 points, based on your five assessment results.
Worth more than cash: Ðiscovery Miles convert at R1 for every Ð10, and your spend discount means the same balance goes further than a cash payout would.
Activity builds your total: Being active also earns Vitality points, with fitness activities, gym visits, parkrun and device-tracked exercise all contributing up to 30,000 fitness points a year.

Every Vitality status threshold at a glance
Vitality status levels run from Blue through Bronze, Silver and Gold to Diamond. You start every year on Blue and move up through the levels as your points grow. The thresholds for one adult are:
Blue: your starting status each year
Bronze: 7,500 points for one adult
Silver: 25,000 points for one adult
Gold: 40,000 points for one adult
Diamond: 50,000 points for one adult
Two adults on the same membership need 15,000 points for Bronze, 50,000 for Silver, 80,000 for Gold and 100,000 for Diamond. Each additional adult dependant adds 3,750 points for Bronze, 12,500 for Silver, 20,000 for Gold and 25,000 for Diamond. The thresholds are designed so a whole household can work towards Diamond together, with each person's healthy habits contributing to the shared goal.
Your points can also behave differently depending on your membership type, the Discovery products you hold and the assessments you have completed. You can check your current status and track your progress towards the next level on the Discovery app or website.
A Vitality Health Check is a great starting point on your road to diamond status
Your Vitality Health Check is a productive single action for your points total. You can earn 5,000 points for completing the assessment plus up to 17,500 points based on results, for a maximum of 22,500 points. The five measures are blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol, weight assessment and smoking status.
Most medical schemes administered by Discovery Health cover at least one Health Check a year for their members, from the Screening and Prevention benefit.
You can book your Vitality Health Check at an accredited Vitality Wellness Centre, a participating pharmacy, a Discovery Store or a Discovery Wellness Day.
Beyond the Vitality Health Check, Vitality's Mental Wellbeing Assessment awards 500 Vitality points for a completed set of six assessments, twice per calendar year, with an annual maximum of 1,000 points. All Vitality members over 18 can participate. You can also earn 1,500 points for finding out your Vitality Age through an online assessment.
Exercise earns points towards your diamond target
Being active is a rewarding way to build your Vitality points total. Fitness activities, tracked exercise and qualifying events all contribute to your Diamond target, and the points you earn from being active form a significant part of your year. You can earn up to 100 points for a gym or approved fitness facility visit, up to 300 points for tracked exercise on a linked smartphone or fitness device, and up to 300 points for completing a parkrun.
Vitality counts one qualifying activity event per day, and the highest-scoring activity for that day is the one that counts. So if you do a gym session and a tracked walk on the same day, the activity that earns the most points is the one Vitality records. The yearly limit on fitness points is 25,000 for each main member, spouse and dependant aged 18 and older.
You can also earn up to 10,000 points by tracking your VO2 max and bettering your Vitality Cardio Fitness Level.
HealthyFood and nutrition add thousands more points
Your grocery choices can earn a meaningful share of your Diamond target. Buying HealthyFood items at Checkers and Woolworths can earn you up to 12,000 Vitality points a year. The more qualifying HealthyFood items you buy, the higher your score climbs, and the more points you earn towards Diamond.
You can also earn 1,000 points for visiting a dietitian. A dietitian consultation gives you professional nutrition guidance and adds to your annual points total at the same time.
The HealthyFood benefit also gives you rewards on your grocery spending. Activate the benefit in the Discovery app or website to get up to 25% back in Discovery Miles on qualifying HealthyFood items. Complete a Vitality Health Check and Vitality Age assessment every 12 months to increase your reward to 25% back at your primary partner, plus 10% back at your secondary partner.
You can boost your rewards by up to 75% back in Discovery Miles when paying with a qualifying Discovery Bank card and managing your finances with Vitality Money. HealthyFood items are available in-store and online at Checkers, Checkers Sixty60, Woolworths, the Woolies app and Woolies Dash.
Which everyday activities earn you points?
Everyday exercise builds your Vitality points week by week. A gym session or approved fitness facility visit earns up to 100 Vitality points, and tracked exercise on a linked smartphone or fitness device earns up to 300 points.
Vitality logs one qualifying activity event per day, and only the highest-scoring activity counts. So, if you complete a gym workout and a tracked run on the same day, the activity earning the most points is the one Vitality records.
parkrun is one of the free ways Vitality members earn activity points. You link your parkrun profile to Vitality, and each completed and scanned parkrun earns you up to 300 points.
Vitality Sleep Rewards adds another layer to your weekly routine. It is a weekly behaviour-change reward that uses sleep data to set a personalised sleep goal. Achieving the weekly goal gives you a reward choice.
So your healthy habits can earn you points and rewards from morning to night.
Your diamond status carries into the next year
You keep the Vitality status you earn each year, even as your points reset to zero at the start of every year. When you reach Diamond, you hold it through the following year while you earn your points again. Each new year starts your points count fresh, so the habits that got you there keep your status going.
This reset-and-carry rule means your Diamond status is never a one-off achievement. You build it year after year through the same healthy habits. The carry-over gives you a running start, so you can focus on earning points for the next year without losing the rewards your current status unlocks.
The points you earn this year decide your status for next year, so every activity, assessment and screening counts towards keeping Diamond. Starting fresh each year gives you a clear target and a full year to reach it again. Your Diamond rewards, from fitness workouts to Active Rewards, stay with you while you build your next year's total.
